Suspension
I have bought some coilover suspension for the RS172!
They are FK Konigsport Coilovers from Germany. They consist of adjustable Yellow Koni dampers and FK coilover shafts, uprated main springs, and helper springs.
I chose these over the HR Coilovers because the HR's were non adjustable damping. After reading some posts on CS I have found that most people who bought the FK's did not like them because they were too hard, and some have gone for the HR's instead! I on the other hand want the setup to be very firm and have adjustable damping as they will be used on the track. If my budget was big enough I would without hesitation buy some Leda Coilovers.
I bought them second hand for an absolute bargain from CS's classified section. The owner hadn't had them long [around 8 months use I beleive]. But this is the best bit - they were just shipped back from FK in Germany after having an extensive service and refurb! So you could say they were almost brand new!
I did however have to do some 'refurbing' of my own. Even though they had lots of new shiny bits [including new rear springs] the surface paint looked tired and before long they would let surface rust form. I solved this by sanding down the surface of the damper bodies and springs down with a dremel and some wet and dry. Giving them 2 layers of primer, 2 layers of paint, and 2 layers of lacquer. The paint job will not be to everyone's taste... good job they are going under the car!

Once fitted I will need an extensive Geometry setup on the car so that it will handle to the preference of my driving style. I normally use Horizon Motorsport for this job on my VX and Elise so I'm sure they could sort out the 172 easily. Although through reading up on the internet Yozzasport is a specialist in track preparing Clio's... they are only about 10 mins away from me also. Fred @ Yozzasport is very helpful so maybe I might be paying him a few visits in the very near future!
